About us

The mission: between the premium brands and the consumers

The fashion industry is the second largest contributor to climate change with its 10% share leaving behind air and maritime transportation combined. We all know that there is an urgent need to change our consumption and production habits, and there is no Plan B for our planet. The circular economy is proven to be a viable solution. The key idea is to keep already extracted resources in use. This is exactly the mission of the recu.shop – to prevent the valuable pieces of garment that have not even been used from ending up in the landfills or being incinerated. By our unique circular model, we place ourselves between premium brands and conscious consumers.

Out impact: no resource is wasted

For a piece of garment produced a huge amount of natural resources is used, human creativity and labor are invested. For example, to make a single cotton T-shirt 2,700 liters of water is needed, the amount of water one person drinks in two-and-a-half years (The Apparel Industry’s Environmental Impact in 6 Graphics | World Resources Institute (wri.org)), 4.3 kg of greenhouse gases are emitted, not to mention the pesticides and insecticides used that harm the local biodiversity.
When this T-shirt remains unsold, all these resources are wasted. This is what we aim to prevent by introducing the Recu.shop 5 circular cycles – refresh, revive, repair, DIY repair, refashion. Each item that passes through one of these cycles gets its second life under the “Repaired and Revived” label.

Our philosophy: mending the broken beauty

Our solution is inspired by the Japanese philosophy of “KINTSUGI” meaning saving broken items – (kintsugi meaning “golden seams”). This method celebrates each item´s uniqueness by emphasizing its mended flaws and defects instead of hiding them.

According to Kintsugi the repaired piece is even more beautiful than the original, revitalizing it with a new look and giving it a second life.
Seeing the beauty in bringing back to life and not accepting the current status quo of irresponsible consumption is how we apply the wisdom of Kintsugi. Ultimately, this is an expression of the consumer’s contribution to saving our “broken” climate.
In the Recu.shop the philosophy of Kintsugi is practically expressed in five forms of salvaging the broken items of clothing from going to waste and bringing them back into reuse with a unique and distinctive creative touch. We name them 5 circular cycles.

How our concept works: Repaired and Revived

RecuShop is proposing an innovative and sustainable solution to retrieve unsold pieces of garnment back to the market and deliver premium quality and creatively designed items to its customers.

Unsold pieces taken from our partners are classified and processed according to one of our unique 5 circular cycles – Refresh, Revive, Repair, Refashion, DIY Repair. The items are back to resue!

Our team is constantly collecting and applying creative modes of repair and revive for various types of damages and defects that unsold pieces of garnment might have.

We are inviting and encouraging our consumers to participate by suggesting their creative repair and revive solutions.
